Japanese Standard 5S

What is it and who can be certified

The 5S Method is a management technique born in Japan in the 60s with the aim of achieving better organized workplaces, cleaner and more orderly, to increase productivity and a better working environment for employees , which also contributes to reducing work accidents.

The result is measured both in productivity and in staff satisfaction with respect to the efforts they have made to improve working conditions. The application of this technique has a long-term impact.

It consists of managing in a systematic way the elements that are in a work zone following 5 simple steps, but that require discipline in the day to day to maintain them:

  • Seiri (Classification)
  • Seiton (Order): A place for everything, and everything in its place
  • Seisó (Cleaning)
  • Seiketsu (Standardization)
  • Shitsuke (Maintain discipline)

Who is it for?

  • Any company, of any sector and size, regardless of the activity to which it is dedicated.
