GLOBALG.A.P. Standard

GLOBALG.A.P. Standard

What is it and who can be certified

GLOBALG.A.P. is a private standard of German origin that was born at the end of the 90s under the name GLOBALG.A.P. with the purpose of developing a scheme that harmonizes the requirements in terms of Best Agricultural Practices (BPA’s) of the entire retail sector and supermarket chains.

Since 2007 it has been named GLOBALG.A.P. to reflect its global and international reach.

Today GLOBALG.A.P. is the international standard with the highest recognition for agricultural production, and has become a requirement, worldwide, necessary and essential that farmers and ranchers must meet to make their products can be marketed through all distribution chains both Spanish and the Rest of Europe (England, Switzerland, Holland, France, Germany, etc.) and the world.

From the international organization of GLOBALG.A.P. it is intended that with the compliance of said BPAs all the distribution chains can ensure, that the products certified under GLOBALG.A.P. that they make available to all their customers and consumers, are agricultural products with the highest guarantee in Food Safety, without neglecting environmental protection and the health, safety and welfare of the worker, while improving production efficiency.

This requirement by the Large Supermarkets and distribution chains, that the products they offer are certified GLOBALG.A.P. has been transferred to the handling centers, which in turn demand so much from their associated with their suppliers of fresh fruits and vegetables.

On the one hand, independent producers can be certified, and on the other, producer groups:

  • GLOBALG.A.P. Option l: Independent producers. The certificate is issued in your name
  • GLOBALG.A.P. Option II: Groups of producers such as Cooperatives, Associations of producers, etc. The certificate is in the name of the Association and all the producers under the scope of the certificate are included in the attached annex.
